The Gospel In Creation

The Lamb Slain from the Foundation

Wonder No. 100·100 Wonders of Creation

And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Revelation 13:8 KJV

We began at the beginning — In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. We end with a phrase that reaches back behind it.

*The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.*

Before the first day. Before light, before the sun and the stars and the sea and every creature in this book. Before Adam took a breath or made a choice. The cross was already settled.

That means the rescue was never an emergency. God did not make a good world, watch it break, and then think of something. When He said let there be light, He already knew what it would cost Him, and He made the world anyway.

Look back over the hundred wonders. The sun keeping time. The moon covering the sun exactly. The stars He calls by name. The whale's song in the dark. The ant with no ruler. The seed that knows what to be. The book written in every cell. The tomb with the stone rolled away.

All of it made by One who knew, on the day He made it, that He would die for the people who would live in it.

That is the last wonder, and it is the one the other ninety-nine were pointing at.

> The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. (Psalm 19:1)

Think About It

A Prayer

Lord God our Father, before You made anything at all, You had already decided to give Your Son for us. Thank You for a love older than the world. Write our family's names in the Lamb's book of life, and keep us Yours forever. In the Lord Jesus name we pray.
