The Sun That Never Misses
In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
Psalm 19:4–6 KJVNinety-three million miles away, a fire burns that never goes out. The sun is so far from your window that its light — the fastest thing there is — takes more than eight minutes to reach your face. The warmth you felt outside today left the sun before you walked to the door.¹
David wrote that the sun runs a circuit — a great circle-course — like a strong runner who loves the race. For a long time, people thought the sun stood still while everything circled it. Then astronomers discovered something wonderful: the sun really is running. It is carrying our whole solar system around the center of our galaxy at about half a million miles an hour — and one full lap is so long that the sun has been running your whole life, your grandparents' lives, and all the lives before them, without ever being late, ever wandering, or ever missing a morning.¹
God set the sun in its tabernacle — its tent — and told it where to run. It has obeyed every day since Day Four.

- How long does sunlight take to reach the earth?
- The sun has never once failed to rise. What does that tell you about the One who commands it?
- God keeps the sun faithfully. Will He keep you?
A Prayer
Lord God our Father, You made the sun and told it where to run, and it has never missed a morning. Thank You that You are more faithful still. Keep our family in Your care today, the way You keep the sun on its course. In the Lord Jesus name we pray.
